“Of course I’ll be back. I have to manage the All-Star team.”
So says one Jack McKeon, improbable 72-year-old manager of the improbable World Series champion Florida Marlins.
Now, I didn’t care much about baseball after the Braves couldn’t…well, you know….
But, you’ve gotta love ol’ “Trader Jack.” Gotta hand it to him. Kind of refreshing, in that “only in America” kind of way. The rumors had already started about another Marlins “fire sale.” About McKeon heading back to the farm. Blah blah blah…
I say good for Jack McKeon! Maybe some other managers – no names, please – could teach a bunch of improbables to play with passion. Hey…it has happened before!
