Talk about an eclectic mix for the ol’ Friday Night Unwind!

I’ve got iTunes playing every single music file on my computer…in shuffle mode!

For instance…at this very moment is I’m Gonna Hire a Wino to Decorate Our Home by David Frizzell. That was preceded by The Dazz Band’s Let It Whip. And right before that was Be Strong and Take Courage from God With Us, Santa Claus is Watching You by Ray Stevens, and One by U2.

Oh, now a real blast from the past…Big House (“with lots and lots of room”…memories of youth ministry conventions rise up!) by Audio Adrenaline!

Good stuff!

Just noticed that Rain Man is on the tube. Great flick! Great soundtrack, perfect for tonight’s Unwind…back on Sunday where it all started!

Iko Iko is one of my favorite movie-opening songs of all time! And who can resist Etta James’s classic At Last? But right at this very moment, the quintessential Unwind song is playing…Hans Zimmer’s Leaving Wallbrook/On the Road! YESSSSSSS!

Tying up some loose ends for Sunday, in anticipation of a whole day tomorrow out and about with the lovely and gracious “Mrs. Just Charlie.” We’re heading north, probably to catch some various fall festivals, apple houses, etc., with one of our destinations being Amicalola Falls, one of our favorite places in the entire world.

So I’ve got a very eclectic mix on for my Friday night Unwind, most of them courtesy of either hearing them in Starbucks this week or picking them up via the “song of the day” iTunes promotion at Starbucks.

Tchaikovsky! Symphony No. 4!

Giving the Christmas music a little break tonight. Listening to the Chicago Symphony performing Debussy’s La Mer, as part of their weekly radio broadcast.

I’m in one of those jazz singer moods tonight, starting with “Lady Ella” herself. I heard this “new” CD in Starbucks last Friday. I’ve been a sucker for Ella for probably thirty years or so – ever since I discovered jazz singers in high school. When the CD finishes, I’ll be switching over to the Ella Fitzgerald channel on Pandora. (Cool deal, that Pandora…thanks, Gary or Ken or whoever it was that first alerted me to it!)

Got a little Jars of Clay action going tonight, since we ended up using their version of “Lonely People” in our service this morning. Thanks, Royal, for the tip. And thanks to all the rest of you who made suggestions for “loneliness songs.”
