I feel like a commercial for VH-1’s “I Love the 80s!”
One of Those 80s Movie Music Moments…
Just now, in my dusty old (2 years old!) “Excellent 80s” soundtrack CD, the powerful and poignant Kate Bush ballad “This Woman’s Work” from the Kevin Bacon/Elizabeth McGovern film She’s Having a Baby, is playing. I’d forgotten how much that song – and that movie – made me “wipe a little dust from my eyes.” The Music from the 80s Movies website says this about the song…
“An amazingly powerful ballad that plays as Kevin Bacon waits to find out if his wife and baby will survive a breech birth; You get to see a montage of the birth, their parents, and Jake (Kevin) sitting alone with tears in his eyes as he suddenly realizes what’s really important in life.”
It’s as powerful to me right at this moment, listening to it, as it was when I saw the movie 15 years ago!
Maybe I’ll post about why it is that way to me…

I found a stack of CDs tucked away in my shelf this afternoon. Turns out they are a little 8-CD collection from my “free Napster” days that I made after I found the Music from 80s Movies website…
Now THAT is some pretty cool stuff…Huey Lewis & The News, Blondie, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet…WOW!
