In one of “those” moods tonight…just a bunch of junk in and around my life, it seems. I’ve had the Shane & Shane Psalms on every minute that something else wasn’t happening today. Great stuff…
A digital commonplace for a Regular Guy called Charlie Pharis

In one of “those” moods tonight…just a bunch of junk in and around my life, it seems. I’ve had the Shane & Shane Psalms on every minute that something else wasn’t happening today. Great stuff…
Reader’s Digest version of some formerly-fat guy’s talk this evening…
A worthy life is defined by…
I mean, EVERYONE!
Let’s just say that if someone had told me 18 months ago what I found out today, I would have laughed ’til I cried…or ’til I died, one or the other!
More details to come later!
Just some stuff that fell out of my brain tonight…
On the way to Tony’s place this morning, I stopped in for my caffeine fix – venti nonfat latte, three Splendas, thank you very much! – and I saw the next three additions to the Just Charlie music library: Willie Nelson’s Natural Renegade, Summertime Groove, and Big Waves.
BTW, “Misirlou” from Big Waves was playing at both Starbucks I visited today!
I can’t find it on the web anymore, but I’m unwinding tonight to one of the first Hear Music CDs I ever got from Starbucks: Jazz Impressionists. This great compilation features some of the best of Miles, Mingus, Horace Silver, and two of my all-time favorites, Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things” and Thelonius Monk’s classic “Everything Happens to Me.”
Good stuff for a Sunday night unwind!
I’ve been married for half of my life. To the same woman.
To the same gorgeous, lovely, wonderful woman.
Twenty-three years ago today, I stood at the front of Rainbow Park Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia and watched as the most beautiful woman I’ve seen before or since made her grand entrance. Wow!
Twenty-three years later, I wouldn’t trade a minute of the trip. Bumps and all.
Thanks, Buddy, for the greatest half-of-a-life any man could ever want.
EYE HEART U!
If you’re into the blues and big bands, it just doesn’t get any better than B.B. King, Lucille, the GRP All-Stars and Stormy Monday Blues!
Oh, and that would be “DOCTOR B.B. King” to you, buddy!
Overheard today, referring to a pretty well-known young pastor who’s leading his church to some pretty amazing growth…
He’s a crass, arrogant, redneck SOB, but I still believe he’s a man of God, and I believe every word he says!

Came across this quote from General Norman Schwarzkopf…
Your organization will never get better unless you are willing to admit that there is something wrong with it.
